Birding

The Florida Keys are a haven for birds and birders alike. The Keys are home to many indigenous species of birds – Burrowing Owls, Sandpipers, Woodpeckers and Rosette Spoonbills are proud to call the Keys home. Pelicans, Osprey, Hawks, Ibis, Cranes, Egrets and Herons are plentiful on our islands too.

Several species of warbler and sparrow also layover in the Florida Keys during their annual migration. The American Bald Eagle, Common Yellowthroat and American Redstart have been spotted here as well.the history of Marathon, in the Florida Keys, is firmly anchored to its fishing heritage.
