Position Responsibilities:
 
The Husbandry Assistant oversees the quality of fish fed to the dolphins and sea lions and is responsible for the maintenance and cleanliness of the food prep area and all equipment.  The Husbandry Assistant also works alongside volunteers and students at times, directing and teaching them how to assist in certain aspects of the job.  Additionally, he/she will assist the Animal Care and Training staff with various daily duties.
 
This is an entry-level position into the Animal Care and Training department.  Once food prep duties are mastered, the Husbandry Assistant may learn basic animal feeding and handling.
 
Major responsibilities of this position may include, but are not limited to, the following:
 
Daily fish preparation for dolphins and sea lions.
Vitamin and medication preparation.
Work with and teach volunteers and/or other assistants in husbandry duties.
Maintain day to day cleanliness of food prep area that meets or exceeds government standards.
Maintenance and ordering of cleaning supplies.
Responsible for daily inventory of fish supply.
Work directly with Animal Care and Habitat to prepare for fish deliveries.
Work closely with Medical Department staff in relation to any food fish and /or food prep issues.
Support ACT department when necessary.
 
Abilities and Skills:
 
Serious applicants should be detail oriented, hard working and dedicated to providing the highest standard of care to our dolphin and sea lion family. 
Must be a team player with excellent organization, problem solving and communication skills. 
The position requires a physically fit individual who can lift a minimum of 50 pounds and must pass a swim test. 
Prior experience with diet prep or animals may be beneficial.

SHELTER MANAGER
The Domestic Abuse Shelter, a crisis center for survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault, has an opening for a full-time Shelter Manager. Candidates need to be willing to work a varied schedule that could include nights, weekends, and rotating holidays to ensure coverage of the 24-hour emergency shelter facilities. Responsibilities include the day to day supervision and management of DAS residential facilities. The Shelter Manager possesses at minimum, a Bachelor’s Degree and two years of experience providing direct services for survivors of domestic violence, or high school/equivalency and four years providing direct services for survivors of domestic violence. Two years of successful supervisory experience is preferred. The candidate will have knowledge of the root causes of violence against women and oppressed groups, proven experience training staff, and excellent organizational skills. VICTIM ADVOCATE

Dolphin Research Center (DRC) currently has a full-time opening for an Animal Care and Habitat Apprentice.  The wage for this position is $10.00/hour with an increase to $10.50/hour after 90 days (approximately $21,500/year).  DRC is a not-for-profit education and research facility dedicated to teaching, learning and caring about marine mammals and the environment we share.

Position Responsibilities:

Major duties of this position in our Animal Care and Habitat Department may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Support Medical and Animal Care and Training staff with care of dolphins, sea lion, exotic birds and other DRC animals, including but not limited to weighing animals, transferring to different lagoons/habitats, in-water medical check-ups, etc.
  • Participate on Manatee Rescue Team.
  • Maintain records and systems.
  • Assist with stocking fish within freezer.
  • Maintenance of buildings, equipment, vehicles, and boats.
  • Maintain and repair filtration systems.
  • Perform safe removal of sea life from lagoons.

Qualifications

·       Successful candidate will be a flexible, responsible, organized, and motivated individual who demonstrates excellent “team player” skills. 

·       Must be physically fit, able to lift 75 pounds, and have a high comfort level in the water.

·       Must be dedicated to the animals’ care, safety and well-beingat all times.

·       Will either be diver certified or be willing to become diver certified.

·       Must possess general “handy-man” skills, knowledge of dive equipment maintenance is a plus.

·       Must have a clean driving record.

·       Must be able to work outdoors in the Florida heatand other extreme weather conditions.

Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining the daily grounds and common areas at the resort. ·        Use of various chemicals in a safe and effective manner while maintaining OSHA guidelines.

·        Responsible for knowing and committing company policies, SOPs, Financial Audit, QA and Safety Audits, mutual respect, cooperation with fellow associates in all departments, and performance.

Position Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

·        Taking candid digital still photos of guests and dolphins during public programs.

·        Working directly with guests to select and process print and/or digital photos.

·        All phases of video recording, capturing, and editing.  Types of projects include promotional, educational, documentary, narrative and visual music montage.

·        Photographing and video recording DRC dolphins, programs and events to support corporate-wide needs.

·        Creating corporate publications including advertisements and marketing pieces.

·        Creating on-site informational and directional signage.

·        Tracking and maintaining production schedules.

 

Abilities and Skills:

·        Graphic Arts skills are required to create, edit and produce publications and signage.

·        Mac and Windows-based computer skills are required. 

·        Familiarity with digital photography and videography is required.

·        Knowledge of Final Cut Pro/X and Adobe Creative Suite software is required.

- Replenish amenities, linens, and supplies in guest room.
- Sign for room keys, retrieve, push to assigned rooms and restock heavy cart. Visually inspect room for cleanliness and appearance and signify completion for room.
- Comply with attendance rules and be available to work on a regular basis.
- Perform any other job related duties as assigned.

Candidate Profile
The successful candidate will have demonstrated to be a quick learner, trustworthy and reliable. He or she must have excellent understanding of the Housekeeping Department and ability to work under pressure.
Other key qualifications include:
- Knowledge of chemical cleaning agents and operation of various cleaning equipment.
- Hotel experienced preferred.
- Safety minded.
- Must be capable of communicating in English.
- Team player and flexible.
- Ability to scrub and scour surfaces, extending arms over head to perform cleaning tasks, and work in confined spaces.
