Special Needs Coordinator - (Full-Time, Permanent)

Dolphin Research Center currently has a full-time opening for a Special Needs Coordinator.  DRC is a not-for-profit education and research facility dedicated to teaching, learning and caring about marine mammals and the environment we share.  The Special Needs Coordinator brings people with special needs in direct contact with dolphins for safe recreational and goal oriented interactions and works as a liaison between DRC and organizations such as Wounded Warrior Project, Make a Wish, Dreams Come True, etc.

Responsibilities:

  • Assess special needs, matching appropriate programs to specific guest’s needs.
  • Providing assistance to participants during interactions with entering and exiting the water, acting as an on-the-dock or in-water assistant, or arranging for extra assistance as needed.
  • Working directly with Wounded Warrior Project program participants.
  • Working directly with private Pathways program guests in classroom sessions and dolphin interactions.
  • Training ES staff for in-water and on the dock assistance.
  • Program development and assessment
  • Maintaining records of participant interactions on a computer database and specialized equipment for the programs.
  • Making online reservations on ResQuest and assisting the Guest Services Department with walk-in reservations by ascertaining the needs of the potential participant and informing the appropriate departments of the reservation
  • Answering telephone, written and email inquiries about the program in a reasonable time frame.
  • Meeting and greeting participants and their families.
  • Conducting special workshops to prepare participants for their interaction, if necessary.
  • Assisting with media coverage by working with DRC's Media & Marketing Director in communicating schedules and developing public relations materials regarding the participants and the program.
  • Assisting the Education Department in responding to information requests regarding DRC’s Special Needs programs; assisting with preparation of Outreach materials; presenting the Special Needs Seminar for DolphinLab.
  • Serving as an Intern Coach which includes interviewing, selecting, guiding and evaluating the Special Needs Intern to completion of internship.
  • Flexible schedule.

Abilities & Skills:

  • Knowledge of special needs population.
  • Good organizational, networking and people skills.
  • Basic data entry and computer abilities including resQwest, Word, Publisher and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent stamina and strength to assist children and adults with special needs in the water is a must.
  • Public speaking skills is also a must.
  • Bachelor’s degree or related experience a plus.

Creative and energetic person needed as Staff Videographer.   This is a full time, permanent position in the Visual Communications (V-C) Department.  If you enjoy working outdoors around the water, interacting with people, watching dolphins at play and are familiar with HD video cameras and Final Cut editing software we have the right opportunity for you.

All phases of video taking, capturing, and editing.  Types of projects include promotional, educational, documentary, narrative and visual music montage 
Taking candid digital still photos of guests and dolphins during public programs
Working directly with guests to select and process print and/or digital photos 
Photographing and videotaping DRC dolphins, programs and events to support corporate-wide needs
Creating corporate publications including advertisements and marketing pieces. 
Tracking and maintaining production schedules
 
 
Abilities and Skills:
 
Familiarity with digital SLR camera and HD Video Production are required.  Knowledge of video editing software and Adobe Creative Suite software is required. .Mac or Windows-based computer skills are required.  Additional graphic arts skills are preferred.

The Marathon Jet Center is looking for an experienced Line Crew Member.  The crew members are responsible for servicing private and corporate aircraft day and night, maintaining fuel inventory, and safely towing, storing, and retrieving aircraft from hangars. Other duties include lavatory services, loading and unloading baggage, and performing and coordinating maintenance of airport buildings, hangar doors, traffic gates, fuel farms, and pumps.

Physical requirements: Must be in good physical shape, able to lift at least 80 pounds, and capable of repetitive bending, kneeling, crawling, climbing, and working in all climates including severe weather.
